Mosaic

An ASCII and pixel-art webcam effect

Mosaic rebuilds your camera as a grid of ASCII characters, subway signs, checkboxes, Minesweeper tiles, pool balls or split-flap letters. It finds you in the picture, so the grid draws your silhouette and the light and shadow on you.

How it works

  1. It finds you

Mosaic picks you out from the room, so every style builds your shape first and the detail inside it second.

  2. Set the scale

Cell size sets how large each cell is. Detail sets how much of the light and shadow on you comes through.

  3. Watch it move

Split-flap cards flip through their letters and pool balls roll to new faces as you move. The Retro board keeps a live count of its mines.

Six styles

Some have colours and character sets of their own. ASCII can fill your whole silhouette and set its type over the fill.
