liveform is a set of camera effects that run in your browser, made and run by Grant Zerlaut. This page says what happens to your camera, what liveform receives and when, and what it never sees.

Your camera

Every effect runs on your own device. Your browser reads the camera, the effect runs there, and the result is drawn on your screen. No frame of the camera feed is uploaded or stored anywhere else, unless you share a capture with liveform (below).

Some effects track your hands, find your face or separate you from the background. All of that runs in your browser too, and the tracking data is never stored or sent anywhere.

liveform never records sound.

Photos and videos

A photo or video you take is made on your device and is gone when you close it, unless you download it, share it or share it with liveform. Share hands the file to your device's share sheet, or saves it and opens the site you choose. Nothing is sent until you do it.

Sharing a capture with liveform

Once you have saved or shared a capture, liveform asks whether you'd like to share it with liveform too. If you choose Share your capture and press Share, liveform receives:

  • that one photo or video;
  • and the name of the effect and its settings.

The capture is used only to see how effects look on real cameras, to find and fix problems, and to test new effects. It is never shown publicly. You must be 13 or older to share a capture with liveform.

Captures shared with liveform are stored with Cloudflare, liveform's host, and only liveform's maker can see them. Each is deleted after 90 days. To have one removed sooner, write to the address below with the date you shared it and what it shows.

liveform never runs face recognition on shared captures and never builds any biometric template from them.

Feedback

liveform sometimes asks whether you're enjoying it. If you answer, it receives your answer, any note you wrote and which effect was open. Nothing that identifies you or your device is attached, though a note is kept as you wrote it. Feedback is deleted after 12 months.

What liveform counts

To see which effects people use and where they run slowly, liveform counts a few things and keeps them only as daily totals:

  • pages viewed, with the kind of device, browser and system (such as phone, Safari, iOS), the website that linked to liveform, if any, and the tag on a link liveform shared (such as “x”), if it had one;
  • whether the camera started, and if it didn’t, why;
  • which effects were opened, for how long, how smoothly they ran, and how long they took to load;
  • how many photos and videos were taken, and whether they were downloaded or shared;
  • errors in liveform’s own code.

Each of these only adds to that day’s total. Nothing is kept for any one visit, no cookie or identifier is set, and your IP address is not part of them. No images and no tracking data are counted. The home page shows two of the totals: frames drawn and effects opened.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, liveform counts nothing.

What other services receive

Like any website, loading liveform sends your IP address and basic browser information to the services that deliver it:

  • Cloudflare hosts liveform and handles every request.
  • When you open an effect, its tracking models come from Google's servers.

liveform itself uses your IP address only for a moment, to stop one address sending too much at once. It does not keep it.

What stays in your browser

liveform remembers a few things on your device: your effect settings, your interface choices, a picture you choose as a background in the Windows effect, and a copy of a large model file so it does not download again. They stay on your device, except an effect's settings, which go with a capture you share with liveform; a background you choose shows in any capture taken over it. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

liveform sets no cookies and uses no advertising trackers or outside analytics services. It does not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Children

liveform does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The camera effects themselves collect nothing. If a child under 13 has shared a capture, or a shared capture shows a child under 13 without a parent's agreement, write to the address below and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the home page will say so for 30 days. The date at the top says when it last changed.
